Geke Hoogstins is inspired by the landscapes of the North East of the Netherlands and brings these to life in her own magificent figurative style. (webpage in Dutch, but the art speaks for itself)
The plant world embraces endless natural spheres … a bud in the sun, grass in the wind, a young and fresh-green dew-laden leaf, or a golden brown one, almost mouldered … the seasons, colours and smells … a detail, a large group.Flowers and leaves, with their distinct characters, beautifully feature in floral spheres so often reflecting our moods and emotions. These natural metaphors and the play of light, with continuously changing colours and interplays of lines, fascinate me. Photography is my favourite technique to picture. ‘MetaFlorica’ so stands for metaphor, flora and photography.
